From 1950 to 1958 Mary Alice Johnston lived on the Ile Saint-Louis in Paris with opportunities to photograph faces and places tourists rarely see. Returning frequently with her cameras over the years she was invited to exhibit her photos at the AC Domenech Productions gallery, 10 rue Bouterel, Paris during an historic celebration of the Ile Saint-Louis in 1980. Now living in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Colorado she is preparing a monograph illustrated with selected scenes from her Paris portfolio.

1956 — Her first exhibition was at the USIS Benjamin Franklin Library, Paris.

1977 — She was the featured artist at the Springfield Illinois Art Fair.

1980 — "The Ile Saint-Louis," at the AC Domenech Productions Gallery, 10 rue Bouterel, Paris.

1987 — Solo exhibition sponsored by the Art Department, University of Illinois, Springfield 1987.

1993 — "Childhood," at the Firedworks Gallery, Alamosa, Colorado.

1995 — Participating artist, "French Ideas," at the G. Gibson Gallery, Seattle, Washington.

1997 — "Faces of Paris," at the CSK Gallery, Denver, Colorado.

1997 — "Faces of Paris." at the Concannon Vineyard Exposition ‘97, Livermore, California.

1998 — "Faces of Paris," at the Photo-Eye gallery, Santa Fe, New Mexico.

2000 — "Masters of Photography," at the Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado. Mary Alice Johnston was one of four photographers honored in this major show

2001 — "Paris Then And Now," Photographic Image Gallery, Portland, Oregon.
