painter Harriet Johns
& sculptor John Reeves
Harriet Johns, now in her 80s, is a woman unique in the history of American painting, she gave up canvas, brushes and oils in favor of large sheets of steel and high-temperature industrial enamel plants to realize her painterly vision. A fearless colorist, a trail blazer who invented her own unique genre and created works on an epic scale...
Colorado sculptor, John Reeves, is more than a master stone carver, although he is certainly that. He teases puzzles and enigmas out of raw rock, and teases us with shifting shapes and formes that seem to have no fixed form. Somewhere between mathematics and music, Reeves' sculptures move, and move us.
